Would the Cricut Cake be used by professionals?

I was looking around at an arts store and discovered the Cricut Cake. I love making cakes, and actually want to get some sort of degree in the Culinary Arts. Although I do want to learn how to produce designs on fondant/gumpaste on my own, I thought this machine might be good for borders and flowers since time can sometimes be a problem. My concern was that using the Cricut would be considered "cheating" by true cake-making professionals. What do you think? OK or not ok for professional use?

Don’t have to read if you don’t wanna (in the lines) :

I was thinking of get the Cricut Expressions Machine for my mother for an early b-day present. (I understand I only in my teens but I have a part time job that pays -50 per week, and get a little over dollars cutting down (and throwing out) wild tobacco plants that grow in our horse pastures) And will easily get over 0 before my mother’s b-day, which is a little over 5 months from now.

Anyway, the yes or no question is:

Is the Cricut Expressions with the Sure Cuts A Lot program the best deal you can get?
@ AlienRel…, We are going to use it. We own a small business and want to make some small but professional looking signs. Also we’re repainting things and planning to add so small details so that would be good, I’ll also have school assignments that it would be good for. And I’m kind of getting into sewing some things like pillows and quilts/blankets and I heard that the Cricut Expressions Machine cuts fabric and up to 1/2 wood (I could be wrong about that though) so I thought it would be good for all of us, but mostly my mom, if that makes the outcome of your decision different.

What do do if your cricut scrapbooking machine gets water damaged?

Our basement flooded last night and I had my cricut on the bottom shelf so it was in about an inch of water… The electric cord / power adapter still has water in it (I can hear it moving) so I don’t even want to try and plug that in yet… And the cartridge got wet also.
What are the chances it will still work / is there anyting I can do to try n dry it out faster?
